The postage stamp redeem with the “First Day” postmark took place on the Museum’s territory. It had a special meaning for us. Timed to the Independence Day of Ukraine, the Ukrposhta national post released the stamp “Mother Ukraine” depicting the monument with the Trident on the shield.
Creation and release of the postage stamp with such name is an important episode in reinterpretation of the Museum and sculpture. After successful completion of the project “Trident of the Motherland” and initiative to rename the monument, the release of the postage stamp proves that the chosen course of the Museum is correct.
Many years Ukraine waited for acceptance of the Motherland Monument as truly own symbol without Soviet markers. The work of the museum team under the leadership of Director General Yurii Savchuk within many months was an important stage on this way.
Director General of the SC Ukrposhta Ihor Smilyanskyi, Director General of the War Museum Yurii Savchuk and the artist Zinaida Kubar took part in the stamp redeem ceremony.
This is not the first time when the artist uses the Motherland Monument image in her creativity. Last year she participated in the museum exhibition “Motherland Monument. Reinterpretation”, where she presented her original artistic vision of the sculpture.
After the ceremony, Yurii Savchuk invited the participants and guests of the event to visit the new exhibition “Sign on the Shield” and become the first guests of the new exposition in the newly prepared exposition space in the Exhibition Center of the Museum on the Independence Day.
Happy Independence Day, Ukraine! Celebrate together with the Museum!
