"Kyiv: One day report. March 8, 2022." A year later

A year ago, obscurity reigned in the capital. The enemy was approaching the city of Kyiv, insidiously shelling civilian objects and evacuation corridors. On March 7, two enemy planes were shot down in the airspace of the city.

However, the next morning the director general of the Museum Yurii Savchuk and the museum photographer Olena Shovkoplyas set off on a journey through the downtown. They recorded the 13th day of the full-scale invasion in the smallest details: bristling roadblocks, concentrated defenders, boarded-up shop windows... People and animals destroyed by shelling of private households...

At that time, no one could predict that this desperate and risky photographic "walk" would turn into a flagship international project, which will visit seven countries within a year: France, the Republic of Korea, Germany, Montenegro, the Czech Republic, Poland and the USA – displayed at 11 sites. Already on March 23, 2022, the opening of the exhibition took place in the French city of Verdun.

We are grateful to the President of the World Center for Peace, Freedom and Human Rights, the former Minister of Defense of France, Senator Gerard Longuet, as well as the Director of the Center, Philippe Hansch, for believing in our country and trusting us at the height of Ukraine’s struggle for survival. After all, it was with their assistance that the first presentation of the exhibition took place outside the borders of our Motherland. We are also grateful to everyone who supported us during this difficult year.
