About project

The exhibition is dedicated to the history of military and economic cooperation of the United Nations during the Second World War and the ongoing Russian-Ukrainian war. It actualizes the continuity of mutual assistance traditions of democratic countries in struggling against aggressive dictatorships. The exhibition dispels the myths produced in the USSR and modern Russia about the insignificant impact of the Lend-Lease on the victory over Nazism and militarism.

“If your neighbor’s house is on fire and you have a garden hose, lend it to your neighbor before your house catches fire too. When the fire is out, your neighbor will return the hose to you”, – this is how the President of the United States of America, Franklin Roosevelt, explained the essence of his initiative to implement the Lend-Lease program during the Second World War. This program became one of the decisive factors in the victory of the Allies over the aggressors in the middle of the last century.

On May 9, 2022, the President of the United States of America, Joseph Biden signed the Ukraine Democracy Defense Lend-Lease Act of 2022.

This legal act became a powerful signal to the world community that the US government believes in Ukraine, and believes in its Armed Forces, while a full-scale invasion of Russia is considered the main threat to the world order that emerged after the Second World War.

We have no doubt that thanks to the help of the states of the free world, Ukrainians will manage to put out the fire in their House, which was ignited by ruscists, and all those responsible for war crimes will be brought to justice.

The exhibition presents the items from collections of the National Museum of the History of Ukraine in the Second World War, the National Archives and Records Administration (USA), the Library of Congress (USA), the artifacts donated by the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, defenders of the state, and materials taken from open sources. The exhibition covers the period of 1941–1945 and 2021–2022. It highlights the history of the Second World War and the struggle of the Ukrainian people for independence and state sovereignty in our time. A significant number of artifacts will be displayed for the first time.
