Genocide and Crimes Against Humanity: Historical Context and Current Realities

Workshop

Participants in the museum session will learn how the terms “genocide” and “crimes against humanity” came into existence, thanks to Raphael Lemkin and Hersch Lauterpacht. Why were these terms only introduced after the Second World War? What are the most famous genocides in history?

The practical task for participants will be to analyze genocidal phenomena and crimes against humanity committed by the russian invaders, based on specific facts from the invasion of Ukraine.
