The entrance to the Museum is free of charge according to the opening hours (except Mi-24 helicopter, Li-2 and MiG-23 aircraft, observation platforms “Pedestal” and “Shield” on the Motherland Monument, and guided tours) for the following categories of visitors:

  • combatants
  • people who have received the status of an affected participant of the Revolution of Dignity
  • ATO/JFO participants
  • military personnel of the Armed Forces and the National Guard of Ukraine
  • children of fallen Defenders of Ukraine
  • cadets and students of military educational institutions of Ukraine
  • orphaned children
  • children deprived of parental care
  • children of preschool age
  • people with disabilities
  • employees of Ukrainian museums and ICOM members

Last Tuesday of the month – free entrance for all visitor categories to all exhibitions, except for the Mi-24 helicopter, the Li-2 and MiG-23 aircraft, ascents to the “Foot” and “Shield” observation decks of the “Motherland” sculpture, and guided tours.

Observation Platforms

Motherland Monument

An exciting ascent to the observation deck, offering panoramic views of Kyiv with an approximately 180° view.

Tickets

  • UAH 1,000.
  • Tickets are sold only at the Museum ticket office.
  • Due to limited availability, visitors may need to queue on site.

Requirements for visitors

  • Visitors must be aged 18 or over
  • Visitors should be in good physical condition.
  • Sports footwear and comfortable clothing are required.
  • Please note that the route includes passing through an opening 55 cm in diameter.

Route

  • The route includes a lift and metal ladders.
  • Ascents are permitted only when accompanied by an instructor and using safety equipment.
  • Maximum of two visitors at a time.
  • Duration: up to 40 minutes.

Accessibility
Due to the monument’s structural features, this route is not fully accessible. The Museum is working on alternative ways for visitors to experience panoramic views of Kyiv.

Ascents are suspended during an air raid alert and resume once the all-clear has been given.

An ascent to the observation deck, offering panoramic views of Kyiv with an approximately 360° view.

Tickets

  • Adults: UAH 150.
  • School pupils and students of educational institutions in Ukraine: UAH 70.
  • Tickets are available online and at the Museum ticket office.
  • Binocular hire: UAH 50. Tickets for binocular hire are available only at the Museum ticket office.

Requirements for visitors

  • Visitors must be aged 6 or over (accompanied by an adult)

Route

  • The ascent is by lift.
  • Visitors are accompanied by an instructor.

More than 60 samples of military equipment and weapons of the twentieth century are presented in the open area of the Memorial Complex. The models cover the period from the early 1930s to the 1970s.

Entrance fee:

  • Adults – 70 UAH
  • Guided tour (group of up to 30 people) – 250 UAH
  • Guided tour in a foreign language – 500 UAH

Li-2 Airplane

The Li-2 (NATO classification—Cab) is a military version of the PS-84 transport aircraft, a Soviet copy of the American Douglas DC-3. It has been produced in the USSR since 1942. During the Second World War, the Li-2 was used for various purposes, such as managing landing operations, transporting supplies, evacuating the wounded, and transporting official delegations.

The museum provides an opportunity to visit the inside of the Li-2 airplane.

MiG-23 Fighter Aircraft

The MiG-23 (NATO classification—Flogger) is a combat vehicle designed to destroy air and ground targets. Its first flight took place in 1967. The aircraft is equipped with a range of armaments, including missiles, rapid-fire cannons, and air bombs. It was used in the USSR and deployed in other countries of the "socialist camp." However, today, the MiG-23 is largely out of service. The museum offers the opportunity to explore the interior of the MiG-23 fighter.

Mi-24 Helicopter

The Mi-24 (NATO classification—Hind, slang—"Crocodile") is an attack helicopter developed in the USSR during the late 1960s and early 1970s. Different versions of the Mi-24 were extensively used in warfare by both Ukrainian and opposing forces. The museum offers visitors the chance to explore the interior of a Mi-24 helicopter.
