Operation Interflex is a UK-led multinational training programme that supports the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Launched in June 2022 following Russia’s full-scale invasion, it brings together military personnel from the UK and 13 partner nations: Albania, Australia, Canada, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Kosovo, Lithuania, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Romania and Sweden. Together, they deliver high-quality training to Ukrainian recruits, leaders and instructors. More than 67,000 Ukrainians have completed the programme, helping to strengthen Ukraine’s ability to defend itself. Over the years, Operation Interflex has evolved. Additional courses were added: leadership training, teaching soldiers how to be in command at a platoon and section leader level, instructor training, combat medic and combat psychologist training. The programme continues to evolve in response to Ukraine’s needs and is now shifting from large-scale basic infantry training to specialist and advanced training. It will focus on developing Ukrainian military specialists in medicine, engineering and logistics, as well as helicopter pilots, helping to strengthen Ukraine’s long-term defence capabilities.
