On May 8, the Day of Remembrance and Victory over Nazism in World War II, Ukraine and people around the world honor the victims of this global conflict.
The defeat of Nazism and Fascism in Europe was achieved through the united efforts of numerous countries and hundreds of different peoples.
Ukraine, which was then without its statehood, was denied the chance to develop its own war narrative. Nevertheless, millions of Ukrainians fought against Nazism in the armed forces of the United Nations and the Resistance. The immense toll of the war on Ukraine was exacerbated by the unprecedented atrocities committed by both the Hitler and Stalin regimes.
The exhibition "Our Victory" explores the importance of the Ukrainian people’s contribution to the defeat of Nazism and the sacrifices that Ukraine endured during that time. The dramatic turn of history determines the modern Ukrainian vision of the events of World War II, seen through the prism of putin’s russia’s invasion, the largest war in Europe since 1945. Never before has our view of the past been so clear as it is now. We recognize the global significance of our ancestors’ actions and understand our current historical mission: to withstand and triumph in the fight against the aggressor who has embraced the cannibalistic practices of Nazism and Bolshevism. Just as 80 years ago, Ukraine is fighting not only for its own future but for the future of all of Europe.
