This exhibition emerged in the close connection to the nationwide project “Trident of the Motherland”, which meant the replacement of the Soviet emblem on the shield of the Motherland Monument with the Sign of the Princely State of Volodymyr the Great – the Trident. In broader context, this exposition reflects general redefinition of the War Museum and the monument as its dominant object.
Over 200 authentic items are presented, covering a period of more than a thousand years. The exhibition highlights the most interesting facts from the history of the Trident, focusing on the most important stages of its development as the State Emblem of Ukraine.
Trident is a symbol used as a state sign by Prince Volodymyr; symbol depicted in the seal under the Unification Act concluded between the Ukrainian People’s Republic and West Ukrainian People’s Republic; state emblem of independent Ukraine began to be put on the state documents from the day when Declaration of Independence of Ukraine was proclaimed. Nowadays, Trident is not only the state symbol, but also a powerful national and patriotic visual image used in the struggle against the Russian aggressor.
