The War Museum hosted a closed screening of the documentary film "24.02. 2022. The Day We United" from the "Smart Movie" film company and director Dmytro Chornyi. The film was created based on the War Museum’s exhibition project "24.02".

The exhibition "24.02" was opened on the first anniversary of the large-scale invasion of Russian troops into Ukraine. Museum workers captured almost minute-by-minute all the main events of February 24, 2022. The project showed officials, military, volunteers, civilians, the first battles, evacuation, even messages from Ukrainians on social networks.

As director Dmytro Chornyi recalled during the event, the tour of the exhibition impressed him so much that the decision to make a film came instantly. He managed to organize a team and on the last day record a tour with the author and curator of the exhibition, Liudmila Rybchenko.

Yurii Savchuk, Director General of the War Museum, emphasized in his speech: it is very important and valuable for the Museum when projects find their continuation and embodiment in new forms. The documentary is a unique opportunity to preserve not only the visual image of the exhibition, but also a curatorial tour, which makes it possible to deepen the perception of the idea.

Liudmyla warmly recalled the work on the exhibition and the film. She noted that the war changed the sense of time and space, blurred the contours of the duration of events. It is important to remember how it all began: the news and images that inspired, united, made us strong and uncompromising.

Producer and co-author of the film, Olena Kotovska, emphasized: the main idea of creating the film was not to once again experience the horror of the first days of the invasion, but to deeply reflect on that time and realize how strong and invincible we are today.

For the artists, this is not the first experience of creating a documentary in this format. The film’s director is one of those who pioneered the genre of the excursion film in documentary. Before that, he had already released a full-length film, "Izium. Liberated", about the expedition of the War Museum team to the city of Izium, which had just been liberated from the occupiers.

The film "24.02. 2022. The Day We United" can now be watched online on the MEGOGO media service. We invite you to watch!
