The event opened with the National Anthem of Ukraine. The programme also included a tribute to Treasury employees who lost their lives defending Ukraine. Among them was Ivan Vykharskyi, in whose memory representatives of the Treasury’s Vinnytsia regional office performed a song.
“A dignified victory is our dream,” said Tetiana Sliuz, Head of the State Treasury Service of Ukraine, in her welcoming remarks. She emphasised that the full-scale war had compelled Ukrainians to reconsider the meaning of life, freedom and spiritual values, for which Ukrainian men and women continue to fight heroically and give their lives.
A symbolic highlight of the gathering was the presentation of the unique art project Unity of Treasury Employees in Every Stitch. It is the largest embroidered book, comprising 27 tapestries created by representatives of all the Treasury’s regional offices. The works combine authentic ornaments, pysanky motifs, trees of life and floral designs characteristic of different regions of Ukraine.
A total of 230 Treasury employees contributed to the creation of the book. Work began on 27 April, the Day of the State Treasury Service of Ukraine, and was completed on 7 August. The book weighs 38 kg.
The artwork earned a place in the World Records Book of Ukraine. Its achievement was officially verified by Hanna Krysiuk, Director General of the Book of Records of Ukraine, in accordance with the established procedure. During the event, another project, Stitch by Stitch, a collection of 27 embroidered tapestries, was also officially recognised and entered into the record book.
For our institution, the event continued its cultural partnership with the State Treasury Service of Ukraine. In 2023, the War Museum hosted the exhibition Our Treasury, which presented patriotic artworks created by Treasury employees.
The ceremonial gathering also included an awards presentation for Treasury employees and greetings from partner organisations.
The War Museum is pleased to serve as a space where memory, culture and Ukraine’s contemporary history come together, and to witness and take part in important events that unite people around the state and its future.
