a screening of the documentary film «Dance with Fire» will take place. The film presents the life story and struggle of Vadym Khlupianets – an artist of the Kyiv National Academic Operetta Theatre, who exchanged the stage and spotlights for the battlefield and died in the War for the Independence of Ukraine.
With the beginning of Russian aggression against Ukraine in 2014, Vadym Khlupianets was forced to leave his native Donetsk and move to Zhytomyr region. Vadym was a graduate of the Kyiv Choreographic School and a ballet artist at the Kyiv National Academic Operetta Theatre. With the start of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, he stood up to defend the state. He first served in the ranks of the Territorial Defence Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and later joined the «Freedom Legion» of the National Guard of Ukraine. The 26-year-old warrior, senior soldier Vadym Khlupianets, was killed on 15 November 2022 in battles near the city of Bakhmut, Donetsk region.
The film screening is organised jointly with the Memory Platform «Memorial».
During the event, a meeting with the creators of the film will take place, namely the co-founder of the Memory Platform «Memorial» Haine Avakian and the author of the film Diana Zhvinklis.
