The defense of Donetsk Airport, which lasted for 242 days, is inscribed in the military history of Ukraine as symbol of the courage and indomitability of soldiers of Ukraine. During the Museum event dedicated to the anniversary of Day of commemoration of defenders of Donetsk airport, we are going to recall main events of these battles and talk about people whose memory is preserved in the Museum’s stock collections.
You will learn about feats of tank crews under command of Captain Oleksandr Lavrenko and Major Yevhen Mezhevikin, volunteer Serhiy Tabala’s and paratrooper Ihor Branovytskyi’s stories. Stories of mentioned fighters are only a small part of the biographies of people who became “Cyborgs” – the personification of indomitable spirit of Ukrainians.
