“Kherson — Testimony That Freedom Is Worth Fighting For”

Events / 11 November 2025

On 11 November 2025 at 3:00 PM, a public talk will be held with journalist and writer Yevheniia Virlych. The event is dedicated to the anniversary of the liberation of Kherson and honors the resilience of the city’s residents during the period of russian occupation.

The discussion will focus on the chronology of events in 2022, the primary russian propaganda narratives surrounding the city of Kherson, and the crucial role of independent information under conditions of silence and restriction. Participants will learn how the city managed to preserve the truth even under occupation, and will reflect on its present — recovery, remembrance, and the strength of a community that continues to live despite the war and ongoing enemy shelling.

The event will take the form of a live dialogue with journalist and writer Yevheniia Virlych — a Kherson native, witness to the occupation, editor of the online magazine Kavun City, and author of publications about the life of the city under Russian occupation, its recovery, memory, and human dignity.
