“Landscape as Witness”

Children at the Museum / 20 September 2025

The landscape preserves traces of war: from remnants of old fortifications to modern ruined buildings, from hidden bunkers to craters left by airstrikes and burned forests. It is not just a backdrop of historical events but their silent witness and bearer of memory.

Today, in the Kyiv region and many other areas of Ukraine, one can see both concrete fortifications of the interwar period and World War II, as well as fresh scars of the Russian invasion, and in some places even more ancient military structures.

The War Museum invites you to the workshop “Landscape as Witness”! Together, we will reflect on how the environment changes under the influence of war, how nature preserves human experience during battles, occupation, and resistance. We will trace how, over time, sites of tragic events acquire new meanings, turning into spaces of memory and dialogue.

Cost: 100 UAH (school students), 150 UAH (adults)
