On 10 July 2025, at 13:30, a meeting dedicated to the memory of Levko Lukyanenko, a prominent Ukrainian politician, dissident, fighter for the revival of Ukrainian statehood, Hero of Ukraine, author of the Act of Independence of Ukraine, will be held in the Main Building of the War Museum.
Levko Lukyanenko is one of the symbols of the indomitable Ukrainian spirit. This is a person who spent 27 years in Soviet prisons and camps for his beliefs and unwavering faith in an independent Ukraine. His words: “Anyone who says that independence fell from the sky does not know that we were sentenced to 10 years in prison and exile”, became a moral guide for generations. It has been seven years since Levko Lukyanenko passed away, but his imperishable legacy remains, engraved in the history of sovereign Ukraine and the memory of its citizens.
During the event, Levko Lukianenko’s wife, Nadiya Ivanivna, will hand over the dissident’s personal belongings – priceless artefacts from the family’s home archive that will become a part of the Museum’s collection.
The meeting will be moderated by Roman Kabachiy, a senior researcher at the War Museum.
