The I All-Ukrainian Youth Scientific and Practical Conference "Preserving Memory in Times of Trials of the 20th–21st Centuries" was held at the War Museum.
The Museum organized it jointly with the Kyiv Youth Academy of Sciences on March 25, 2025. The conference participants were schoolchildren of grades 9-11—contestants of the Youth Academy of Sciences of Ukraine from different regions of Ukraine, students of after-school education centers, and students. The event was moderated by the Museum guide, Vitalina Voitenko.
The author of the "Real History" project, Akim Galimov, emphasized the importance of analyzing and understanding the fateful events of the past for the progress of the Ukrainian people in the future in a welcoming video address.
Director of the Kyiv Youth Academy of Sciences Iryna Polishchuk emphasized the importance of cooperation between the Junior Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and the Museum in such an essential matter as involving young people in commemorative practices.
Museum researcher Roman Kabachii presented telling artifacts from our institution’s collection—diaries of the modern russian-Ukrainian war—and spoke about the institution’s contribution to preserving the historical memory of the wars of the 20th and 21st centuries in Ukraine.
In the main part of the conference, students from different regions, including those near the front, delivered reports. Notably, one of the reports was titled "Exhibition Activities of the War Museum as a Reflection of Socio-Political Changes in Ukraine." Its author is a student of Kyiv Lyceum № 144 Daria Tarkovska. The fact that the Museum’s activities are the subject of research by young scholars is a high assessment of the work of our institution.
A pleasant bonus for participants at the end of the event was the ascent to the observation platform of the "Motherland Monument."
A collection of reports written by young researchers will be published after the conference.
We appreciate all participants for their interest in history and a strong desire to explore it. We believe in the continuation of our collaboration.
