The third "Four-Legged Defenders" ceremony took place at the War Museum.
Boy, Amorek, Athos, Finch, Mayla, Aruta, Dasha, Rita, Scully, Grom, Kerry, Buddy, Arni, Java, Nabat, Rem, Ida, Honda, Bigi, Nika, Lola, Kola, Jessica, Daisy, Lanhur, Hardy, Hanna, and their handler partners were honored with special awards from the Ukrainian Kennel Union (KU) with the support of Bravecto and Royal Canin.
The four-legged awardees work in 12 agencies and departments within Ukraine’s security and defense sector, defending and saving lives around the clock.
All the nominees are true heroes. They search for mines in territories liberated from occupiers and recover the bodies of those killed under debris after russian missile strikes. They help expose smugglers, detect drugs and explosives, and search for missing persons.
The President of the KU, Heorhii Onishchenko, noted that the date of the annual event was chosen deliberately, as the Union was founded on November 14, more than thirty years ago. The Union brings together all those who cannot imagine their lives without dogs and makes significant efforts to develop cynology in Ukraine.
Yurii Savchuk, Director General of the War Museum, was inspired by the overall atmosphere of the meeting. "This event has incredible energy and spirit. I am pleased that the ceremony for awarding cynological teams is taking place here. I believe this is just the beginning of our collaboration with the Kennel Union," stated the head of the Museum.
A pleasant surprise for everyone present was an extraordinary gift for the Kennel Union. People’s Deputy of Ukraine and founder of the international art project ArtArmor, Oleksandr Kovalchuk, presented a bulletproof plate featuring an image of the dog Patron and the inscription "On guard for life, from heart to tail." Young artists, participants of the project, created this artwork on the plate, which saved the life of one of Ukraine’s soldiers.
Congratulations to the cynologists and their furry companions on receiving the award and to the KU on its founding day!
