A meeting was held at the War Museum as part of the Heroes of War series with Senior Lieutenant Artem Kryvoruchenko, call sign “Kipish”, an officer of the Reconnaissance Section of the 101 Separate Brigade for the Protection of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, named after Colonel General Henadii Vorobiov.
Artem has a law degree, but since childhood he had dreamed of becoming a soldier. In 2019, after signing a contract, he joined the ranks of the 101 Separate Brigade for the Protection of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and in 2021 he completed the basic leadership course at the Desna training centre.
With the beginning of the full-scale invasion, the serviceman carried out combat missions to defend the Kyiv region. From 2023, he served as a platoon commander. During fighting in the areas of Toretsk, Maiorsk and Shumy, he was wounded, but returned to his unit after treatment. In 2024, he took part in combat operations in the Donetsk region, including in the areas of Bohdanivka and New York, where he was wounded twice.
During the meeting, Artem Kryvoruchenko spoke about servicemen’s motivation, the commander’s responsibility, and the value of human life in war. He paid particular attention to his comrades-in-arms, with whom he went through the most difficult stages of his service.
“It is the personnel who are the greatest treasure for an officer,” the serviceman emphasised, recalling combat work, the evacuation of the wounded and fallen, mutual support, and trust among the soldiers.
Artem Kryvoruchenko noted that his main motivation is his family and the desire to protect the rights of Ukrainian children and civilians to live in a safe and independent state.
For his courage and dedication, the serviceman has been awarded the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine decoration “Silver Cross”, the Commander of the Joint Forces Operation decoration “Cossack Cross” 3rd Class, the Presidential Medal “For the Defence of Ukraine”, and the medal “For Valour and Loyalty”.
At the end of the meeting, Artem Kryvoruchenko donated personal artefacts related to his service and combat path to the War Museum’s collection.
