The Museum documented a prisoner exchange on Independence Day

Museum Life / 3 September 2025

On Ukraine’s Independence Day, the 68th prisoner exchange took place—the second one documented by representatives of the War Museum.

Ukrainian defenders and eight civilians, including the abducted former mayor of Kherson, Volodymyr Mykolayenko, returned home after enduring hardships in Russian prisons.

This moment was long-awaited not only for those released but also for their families, who kept love in their hearts throughout the long months and years of forced separation.

The Museum sincerely thanks the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War for providing the opportunity to document the historic moment of the return of our defenders and civilians home.
