The War Museum Book Club invites you to the final meeting of the series dedicated to International Holocaust Remembrance Day.
Meeting Five: "Maybe Esther" by Katja Petrowskaja
The book by Katja Petrowskaja from Kyiv became an absolute bestseller in Germany, where the author has lived for many years.
In the museum exhibition space, we will discuss the Ukrainian-language edition of "Maybe Esther" and delve together into the lyrical narrative of seemingly endless family stories. Family stories are closely intertwined with the theme of the Holocaust in Ukraine, in particular, the extermination of Jews in Babyn Yar. The author’s grandmother, who died in 1941 during the tragedy at Babyn Yar, inspired the main character of the book, Esther.
Guests at the event will also explore an exhibition dedicated to World War II, showcasing artifacts that reveal the tragic history of the Holocaust.
