Who were the key figures behind the writing and proclamation of the Universals of the Ukrainian Central Rada? What ideas and aspirations guided Mykhailo Hrushevskyi, Volodymyr Vynnychenko, and other founders of our statehood? How did they navigate the difficult path at the start of the Ukrainian Revolution—from dreams of autonomy to the declaration of the independence of the Ukrainian People’s Republic?
In this workshop, we will not only delve into the history of Ukrainian state-building but also attempt to view these events through the eyes of their participants. We will analyze the motives, debates, and compromises that shaped the Universals, and understand how individuals influenced the course of history. All of this will unfold in the atmospheric space of the exhibition "Sign on the Shield."
And, of course, you will create your own "Fifth Universal" with your vision for Ukraine’s future, inspired by the ideas of the figures of that era. Participants will also be offered a thematic crossword puzzle dedicated to the key figures of the time and their political views.
