The War Museum has concluded its series of educational online lessons, “The Second World War. Our Victory,” dedicated to the memory of the events of 1939–1945.
The main goal of the lessons was to highlight the role of the Ukrainian people in the victory over Nazism through the prism of the Museum’s unique collection: authentic letters, photographs, and artefacts.
The project brought together school and university students from various regions of Ukraine. Active participation in the sessions was taken by students from lyceums in Kyiv, Sumy, Kramatorsk, Sloviansk, and Lyman. We would also like to especially acknowledge the involvement of cadets from the Military Institute of Telecommunications and Information Technologies named after the Heroes of Kruty, for whom questions of historical heritage form a fundamental part of professional training. In total, 723 participants joined the lessons.
Together with the Museum, young people studied the Second World War not as a list of static dates, but as the living history of real people. Particular attention was paid to the relevance of the legacy of that war in the context of the contemporary struggle for Ukrainian statehood and the preservation of national identity.
We express our gratitude to all educational institutions and participants who joined the discussion. The formation of an objective historical memory is our shared contribution to the future of Ukraine.
