Oleh Medunytsia, Head of the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists (Revolutionary), personally presented the Museum with extraordinary artifacts from the history of Ukrainian resistance and struggle: a replica of the death mask of OUN leader Stepan Bandera, five bofons (OUN banknotes), and a collection of the “The Liberation Path” journal spanning from 1953 to 2003.
During the meeting, the politician and public figure shared the history of the publication. “The Liberation Path” is a socio-political, literary, and scientific monthly journal of the OUN (R), founded in London, UK, in 1948. Over time, it became the official voice of the OUN abroad. From 1954, the journal was published in book format; however, its emblem, designed by graphic artist Robert Lisovskyi, remained unchanged throughout its existence. Following Ukraine’s independence, the publishing house relocated to Kyiv. Oleh Medunytsia emphasized: “This monthly journal is a unique collection of works by those who fought for Ukraine, our language, history, and culture. It belongs in a symbolic place like the War Museum.”
During the official handover, the Museum’s Director General, Yurii Savchuk, highlighted the historicity of the moment. He noted that such artifacts are not only valuable museum pieces but, above all, living testimonies to the long and continuous struggle of Ukrainians for freedom and statehood.
The War Museum expresses its sincere gratitude to the OUN (R) Leadership and Oleh Medunytsia for their trust and for the donated artifacts, which hold exceptional historical and scientific value. We believe this is only the beginning of a long and fruitful cooperation.
