“AIRPORT. 242”
On January 19, 2025, at 12:00 p.m., the opening of the exhibition project "Airport. 242" will take place in the Main Building of the War Museum. During the event, 24 works by an artist, a volunteer, and soldier Oleh Drobotskyi (a call sign “Khudozhnyk” / "Artist") will be presented. --They are based on the photographs of the famous journalist and photographer, author of the book Airport by Serhiy Loiko. The works from this series were presented at the “Best Artist” contest. They were exhibited in many regions of Ukraine and also abroad, in particular in Israel (Tel Aviv) and the United States (Chicago).
Oleh’s paintings also have their own story. Three of them survived the occupation in Kherson. Due to the Ukrainian patriots, they were hidden and after the liberation of Kherson were transferred to the artist’s homeland.
The representatives of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine and the Ministry of Veterans Affairs of Ukraine will participate in the event.

Oleh Drobotskyi was born on October 29, 1996 in the village of Verbovets of the Ternopil region. He studied at the Department of Fine Arts of the Kremenets Pedagogical College of the Taras Shevchenko Kremenets Regional Humanitarian and Pedagogical Academy and at the Lviv National Academy of Arts.
Oleh Drobotskyi was recruited by the Right Sector of the Ternopil region, and after studying at the Academy, he joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine on a contract service to the 2nd Reserve Hundred of the Ukrainian Volunteer Corps. After the start of the large-scale invasion, he defended Ukraine as part of the 67th separate mechanized brigade of the Ukrainian Volunteer Corps of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. In July 2022, he participated in the defense of the city of Maryinka of the Donetsk region. Oleh Drobotskyi died on March 6, 2023 in the battles near Orikhovo-Vasylkivka of the Bakhmut district of the Donetsk region. He was posthumously awarded the Order of Bohdan Khmelnytsky of the third grade.
