On February 13, the world celebrates World Radio Day. Radio may appear to have lost its significance in today’s digital age. However, during the full-scale russian invasion, it has proven invaluable. It allows us to stay informed about the news even during blackouts, when communication is unavailable, or in areas of active hostilities.
In February and March 2022, radio was the only means of communication that broke through the russian information blockade in the temporarily occupied territories, including the suburbs of Kyiv, Chernihiv, and Kherson regions, and Mariupol.
