We invite you to a museum session dedicated to commemorating the victims of the Nazi system of exploitation, which deprived millions of Ukrainians of their homes and freedom, branding them instead with the degrading “OST” patch.
Participants will learn about the fates of civilians deported abroad — from the moment of their forced removal to the exhausting labor in factories, on farms, and in labor camps – and examine the hardships of returning home, which for many “Eastern workers” often became a new ordeal in Soviet reality. Additionally, we will explore methods for researching one’s own family history and discover practical techniques for preserving the memory of ancestors.
During the session, you will also gain deeper insight into the lives of Ostarbeiters and the severe trials they were forced to endure.
