Easter egg making at the War Museum

Children at the Museum / Excursions and interactive events / 10 April 2025

This weekend, the War Museum was filled with sunshine from smiles and warmth from emotions. As part of the cultural and educational charity campaign "Gift an Easter Egg to the Defender of Ukraine," a pysanka-making masterclass was held, led by the Honored Master of Folk Arts of Ukraine, a member of the National Union of Masters of Folk Art of Ukraine, Easter egg maker Zoya Stashuk.

The event was attended by displaced people from Bakhmut, wives of servicemen with their children, and visitors to the Museum. People of all ages and genders were united by their love for Ukraine. While learning the technology of pysanka painting, the participants also learned about the main symbols of the Easter egg and the history of their origins. The central image during the masterclass was the family tree, symbolizing the continuity of generations and the indestructibility of Ukrainian identity.

The War Museum sincerely thanks Zoya Stashuk ) for so generously sharing her skills, Anzhelika Rudnytska, and the State Agency for Promotion of Culture of Ukraine for co-organizing the event and all the participants for supporting our military.

On Easter, we will gift the pysanky created to the defenders of Ukraine. We believe that they will serve as a talisman for the military and remind them of family warmth, the comfort of home, and our Museum.

Let’s preserve our traditions and believe that "Christ has Risen! – Ukraine will rise!"
