HUMAN. The art of Steinunn Thorarinsdottir

On September 17 at 11:00, the War Museum will host a meeting with the world-renowned Icelandic sculptor Steinunn Thorarinsdottir.

The artist will speak about her work and the creative process of exploring human nature. Everyone is welcome to ask questions and talk with her in person.

The event marks a special occasion, that is the opening of Steinunn Thorarinsdottir’s solo exhibition “Armors” on the grounds of the War Museum. For nearly half a century the artist has been creating human figures – genderless, often faceless, cast in metal, glass or other materials. Her sculptures stand in parks, museums and public squares across the United States, Europe and Canada. Borders, Horizons and Armours are the names of her well-known serie explore boundaries, vulnerability, connection, and how a person feels both within space and beyond it. From 17 September, her works can also be seen at the Memorial Complex in Kyiv.
