"Kyiv Carol" near the Motherland Monument

Interactive events / 22 December 2024

We sing and ask God that victory may come,

should everyone help.

Christ is born!

The War Museum and the "Kyiv Carol" Community invite Kyiv residents and guests of the capital to join in traditional Christmas greetings on Christmas Eve.

"Kyiv Carol" was created as a voluntary and independent association of children and adults who share the knowledge and experience of caroling and popularize Christmas folk traditions in the conditions of a modern metropolis.

The community has been gathering for seven years: they research and study the song heritage and create new poetic greetings relevant to the present. The most challenging and vital period for carolers is the preparation for Christmas, which lasts for two months.

Almost from the very beginning of its foundation, "Kyiv Carol" has come out to Kyiv citizens with a Christmas carol twice: on December 25th and January 7th. With the transition of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine to the Revised Julian calendar, "Kyiv Carol" participants congratulate Ukrainians on Christmas on December 25th. They go out to the central squares or iconic places of the city of Kyiv to announce the news of the birth of the Savior.

Good news and the best traditional greetings will be heard this year on the Pechersk hills at the foot of the Motherland Monument. Kyiv residents will sing carols and wish all the best for the coming year.

We invite everyone to join us!
