Meeting with Lieutenant Colonel Ivan Morozovsky

Events / 30 October 2025

The War Museum continues its series of meetings with servicemen and veterans of the Russian-Ukrainian war. We were visited by the Commander of the Artillery Division of the 101st Brigade for the Protection of the General Staff named after Colonel-General Henadii Vorobiov, Lieutenant Colonel Ivan Morozovskyi. The meeting was moderated by Museum scholar Serhii Siryi.

The Deputy Director General for Institutional Development, Yurii Horpynych, greeted the Defender and emphasized that meetings with participants of the Russian-Ukrainian war and their invaluable testimonies consolidate the history of Ukrainian victory against an age-old enemy into a single narrative. Their stories and the artifacts donated to the collection are the basis for implementing the main focus of the museum’s activity: the documentation and memorialization of the war’s history.

Ivan Morozovskyi was born in the Khmelnytskyi region. Since his youth, he dreamed of dedicating his life to the military. He studied at the Kamianets-Podilskyi Lyceum with enhanced military and physical training, and later graduated from the Hetman Petro Sahaidachnyi National Ground Forces Academy.

Immediately after graduating from the academy, he went to serve in the 30th Prince Konstanty Ostrogski Mechanized Brigade, where he gained his first combat experience in January 2019.

Over three and a half years of the full-scale war, Ivan Morozovskyi carried out combat missions in the Donetsk, Luhansk, Kyiv, Kharkiv, and Kherson regions.

His service in the 30th Prince Konstanty Ostrogski Mechanized Brigade was literally filled with romance when the officer met his future wife, Oksana. On November 25, 2023, the couple welcomed twins—Solomiia and Mariia. As Ivan recounted, his family is his greatest support and strength.

Unfortunately, the defender’s family experienced a painful loss due to the war. Oksana’s father, who was also a serviceman of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, died while performing a combat mission.

During his service, Lieutenant Colonel Ivan Morozovskyi was awarded the Order of Danylo Halytsky, the Distinction of the Minister of Defence of Ukraine “10 Years of Conscientious Service,” and the Commander of the Operational-Tactical Group “Brave Heart” distinction.

The defender donated artifacts of great importance to him, including sleeve insignia and battle flags of the units where he served, to the Museum’s collection.

The War Museum sincerely thanks Lieutenant Colonel Ivan Morozovskyi for the warm and informative meeting. The recorded testimonies and received artifacts will serve as evidence of the Ukrainian people’s struggle for future generations.
