Memorandum of Cooperation and Partnership

Our partners / Conferences / 21 May 2025

The War Museum and the 1st Information and Communication Support Center of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine signed a Memorandum of Cooperation and Partnership.

On May 21, a meeting took place between the Museum’s Director General Yurii Savchuk, and representatives of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The head of the institution expressed his gratitude to the defenders who protect Ukraine every day. Yurii Savchuk emphasized: "It is essential to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine and to work to ensure that the memory of our people’s resistance is forever etched in the history of future generations. Our mission is to preserve, study, and promote the history of Ukrainians’ struggle for freedom and independence".

Ukrainian film director and screenwriter, now Major of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and acting head of the 1st Information and Communication Support Center, Taras Tkachenko, highlighted the importance of cooperation with the War Museum. He noted that the Memorandum is the first step toward further collaboration, with many exciting projects ahead.

The defenders also made a valuable gift to the Museum – donating a collection of shoulder sleeve insignia from the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine as part of the "Unit Code" project.

One of the special items is a sleeve patch featuring the symbol of the capital and the Museum in particular – the Motherland Monument. It was presented to the museum staff by a female servicemember of the Ground Forces, who had the call sign "Vesnianka."

A touching moment for all participants was the story shared by Senior Sergeant Vita Tytarenko about the owners of the donated patches. With a heavy heart, the defender noted that some of the shoulder sleeve insignias had been passed on by the comrades and relatives of fallen warriors. Symbolically, the event took place in the exhibition space of "Ukraine – Crucifixion," which once again reminds us of the war crimes committed by the russian federation during the full-scale invasion.

To date, the Museum’s collection contains over 1,000 sleeve patches, including 700 original ones. These small emblems – both official and handmade – have become a visual code of the Ukrainian military. They reflect the geography of battles and the character of each unit. Patches preserve the memory of comrades, their combat experiences, and personal stories "written" by war.

The War Museum sincerely thanks the soldiers and officers of the Ukrainian Ground Forces for the donation of their collection of patches. We look forward to continued fruitful cooperation within the framework of the Memorandum of Cooperation and Partnership and eagerly anticipate future joint projects.
