Premiere of "Stusanyna" at the War Museum: poems by Vasyl Stus in the voices of those who know best the price of struggle and life.

Today, the War Museum’s cinema hall turned into a real theater stage, and the line of spectators reached the street.

“Stusanyna” is not just a play. It is a cry of the soul, told through the Vasyl Stus’ poems and the voices of those who went through the war. War veterans on stage read the poet’s poems as if they were living them here and now. Each scene touched the heart and caused a wave of emotions. The audience held back tears and held their breath at every word. This is a play about strength, pain, unity and faith — in themselves, in society, in the future.

After the performance, a discussion took place, during which all viewers were able to share their own emotions from watching and ask their questions to actors with military experience.

The Director General of the Museum Yurii Savchuk emphasized: “We are glad that the War Museum is turning into a real art hub. During the large-scale invasion, the Museum team has already held two festivals of military music “Surma”. This is not the first theatrical performance on the Museum stage, but for the first time a real theater is being born on it, filled with creative power and fighting spirit. We congratulate the entire acting troupe on this event and wish new achievements and full halls!”

In addition, a charity auction was held, the funds from which will be directed to the urgent needs of the “Rubizh” brigade. In particular, the “Stus Fest” poster with the signatures of the first cast of the play “Stusanyna” was raffled off. The Museum employees competed for a unique artifact, and from now on it, together with the signatures of the current cast, will be stored in the War Museum’s fund collections.

We are grateful to the actors of the Theater of War for these emotions and an evening that we will definitely not forget. Your voices gave a new sound to the long-familiar poems of Vasyl Stus.

The war continues. But art also fights. And it wins. 💙💛
