“Resilience. Recovery. Future: Culture in the Recovery of Ukraine”

It was organized in Warsaw (Poland) by the OBMIN Foundation with the support of the governments of Poland, Germany, Italy, and more than 20 European institutions.

The conference brought together a wide range of participants – representatives of the state authorities of Ukraine and Poland, international organizations, the diplomatic corps, cultural figures from 13 countries, and media professionals.

The event aimed to consolidate visions for the recovery of Ukraine’s cultural sector and preceded the international conference on the reconstruction of Ukraine, which will take place in Rome (Italy) in July 2025.

In her opening speech, the founder and head of the OBMIN Foundation, Małgorzata Lawrowska von Thadden, emphasized the importance of international solidarity in overcoming today’s challenges and in outlining directions for the future recovery of Ukraine’s cultural sector already now.

Deputy Minister of Culture and Strategic Communications of Ukraine Anastasiia Bondar, in her speech, highlighted the role of culture as one of the key factors of Ukraine’s resilience in the fight against Russian aggression.

Member of Parliament of Ukraine, the Chairman of the Committee on Humanitarian and Information Policy of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Mykyta Poturaiev, stressed culture as an important component of national security.

A representative of the Museum, Deputy Director General for Research Dmytro Hainetdinov, took part in a panel discussion on the role of museums in shaping new narratives. In particular, he spoke about the Museum’s documentation of the ongoing war and drew historical analogies with the processes of reconstruction of European countries after the world wars of the 20th century.

The Museum sincerely thanks the OBMIN Foundation for its cooperation and the opportunity to be a participant in the international dialogue on the post-war recovery of the cultural sphere in Ukraine.
