The War Museum held a seminar for deputy principals for educational work from schools in the Boryspil district titled “Rethinking the Past: The Museum as a Platform for Critical Dialogue”.
During the meeting with educators, senior researcher Hanna Tarasenko presented the Museum’s exhibitions on the Second World War and the current russian-Ukrainian war. Lead tour guide Tetiana Romanenko introduced interactive formats of museum engagement designed for children and youth. Tour guide Ihor Buchma showcased practical lesson cases to develop students’ critical thinking. Head of the Museum’s Educational Department, Svitlana Datsenko, emphasized the importance of collaboration between the Museum and educational institutions for fostering civic education among youth and highlighted the potential for expanding such cooperation. This interaction will help the younger generation not only to remember facts but also to understand the essence of historical processes, thereby building resistance to disinformation campaigns.
The meeting served as a platform for developing new forms of collaboration between museum professionals and educators. We believe the interactive educational methods presented at the Museum will become valuable tools for teachers and contribute to further integration of education and museum pedagogy.
