The War Museum hosted The Path of the Unconquered, an event honouring and presenting awards to veterans of the 241st Separate Brigade of the Territorial Defence Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Those who have served in war remain part of the military family forever. The command of the 241st Separate Brigade of the Territorial Defence Forces met with the brigade’s veterans and their families to thank them for their service, present them with awards, and once again honour their contribution to the defence of Ukraine.
Each veteran’s story forms part of the unit’s history, its combat record, and its achievements. It is thanks to people like them that traditions are established, experience is passed on, and the unit’s spirit is preserved.
Those present were addressed by Ivan Chyhyryn, Head of the Veterans’ Council of Kyiv’s Holosiivskyi District, a veteran of the 241st Separate Brigade of the Territorial Defence Forces, a volunteer, and a man of unbreakable resolve. Through his own example, he demonstrates that the struggle for Ukraine continues even after injury, through defending veterans’ rights, upholding justice, and serving the interests of the local community.
In his welcoming remarks, Dmytro Hainetdinov, Deputy Director General for Research and Collections, emphasised the symbolic significance of holding the event at the Museum, which preserves the memory of the heroes of Ukraine’s century-long struggle for independence. As our defenders prove every day, freedom is not given; it is won on the battlefield.
Veterans and service personnel enjoyed musical performances by Vasyl “Liutyi”, an iconic contemporary singer-songwriter and veteran of the Russo-Ukrainian War, and Serhii Vasyliuk, a serviceman of the 241st Separate Brigade of the Territorial Defence Forces and frontman of the band Tin Sontsia.
The prayer led by Volodymyr Cheslavskyi, military chaplain of the 205th Battalion of the 241st Separate Brigade of the Territorial Defence Forces, gave strength and brought inner peace.
The event was moderated by researcher Iryna Kotsabiuk, and the Museum’s collection was enriched with new artefacts.
We thank Ukraine’s defenders, both women and men, for their strength, dedication, and resilience. It is an honour for us to preserve your stories.
