The project “One Life – Two Wars” was presented at the symposium “The Most Documented War: A Polyphony of Narratives.”

Exhibitions and presentations / Conferences / 15 June 2026

On 4–6 June 2026, the symposium “The Most Documented War: A Polyphony of Narratives” took place in Lviv for the fourth time. The event was traditionally organized by the Center for Urban History, Lviv, in partnership with leading academic and research institutions: Documenting Ukraine / Institute for Human Sciences, Vienna; the Research Centre “Ukraine” / Max Weber Foundation, Lviv/Bonn; and INDEX: Institute for Documentation and Exchange, Lviv.

The theme of this year’s symposium was the polyphony of narratives, inviting participants to reflect together on a symphony of different voices, on the tone and timbre of stories, as well as on what remains unspoken, unvoiced, and silenced. By studying diverse experiences, we can navigate the challenges that society will face with greater awareness.

The symposium became a space for dialogue with like-minded colleagues, the exchange of experience, and the establishment of promising contacts for future initiatives. It also featured new and conceptually important work by Ukrainian researchers who reflect on Ukraine’s wartime experience through the lenses of history, culture, and human testimony.

Museum researcher Iryna Kotsabiuk, who took part in this important event, presented the research project “One Life – Two Wars” during the poster session. The project, with design by Daria Dashynevych, is being carried out at the War Museum with the support of the Institute for Human Sciences in Vienna (Institut für die Wissenschaften vom Menschen, IWM) within the framework of the Documenting Ukraine programme.

We sincerely thank the organizers for the opportunity to take part in this important professional platform.
