The tenth Donbas Media Forum brought together journalists, experts, and representatives of international organizations to discuss freedom of speech and methods of countering disinformation during wartime.
Donbas Media Forum is a platform launched in 2015 to support journalists from regions affected by war. This year’s forum focused on the theme “Freedom of Speech vs. Freedom of Lies,” featuring discussions on information warfare, ethics, and gender equality. The museum halls served as spaces for discussions, film screenings, and workshops, and were given symbolic names – “Donetsk,” “Luhansk,” “Mariupol,” “Berdiansk,” and “Kakhovka.”
In addition, during the forum, Tetiana Lomakina, Presidential Advisor and Commissioner on Barrier-Free Accessibility, met with representatives of the Museum’s Cultural Rehabilitation and Accessibility Sector – Iryna Uzhakova and Mariia Samoilova. They discussed potential cooperation to promote inclusivity in the cultural sphere and addressed issues related to barrier-free access. It was emphasized that today everyone can contribute – for example, by using “simple language” in communication to make information accessible to all.
The anniversary Donbas Media Forum at the Museum of War became not only a venue for professional dialogue, but also a space for reflection on the power of truth during war. Within the walls that preserve the testimonies of struggle and resilience, echoed the voices of those who daily resist russian aggression in the information field.
