Recently, the Museum of War received a gift from Sweden – the book “For the Freedom of Ukraine and Our Own – Monday at 12:00”. This is a unique documentary collection of photographs and testimonies about the Monday Movement – a symbol of Swedish civic solidarity. Since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, this movement of support for our country has become a permanent and one of the most well-known in Europe.
Since 28 February 2022, every Monday on Normaalmstorg square in the centre of Stockholm, politicians, artists, journalists, diplomats, and local activists gather in solidarity with Ukraine. During international events in Sweden, representatives of the Museum have also joined the rallies.
The publication documents testimonies of people who have become part of this movement, including the story of today’s birthday boy, Tymur Vasylishyn. The young man is called the “Voice of Ukraine’s Freedom in Sweden”. For four years, every demonstration has begun with the Ukrainian national anthem performed by Tymur. His voice, resounding over the square filled with Ukrainian flags, has captured the hearts of thousands of people.
Tymur has been involved in music and singing since childhood. After his forced relocation to Sweden, he continues his studies and perfects his talent, engages in volunteering, and participates in numerous charity concerts to support children affected by the war.
Today, on Tymur’s birthday, we wish him continued strength to reveal the beauty of our nation through the power of his voice and Ukrainian song, to convey to the world that Ukraine exists, our people are fighting, and we are preserving our identity.
We thank Sweden for its tremendous support. We are grateful to everyone who comes to the demonstrations, to every person who supports Ukraine.
