The War Museum received valuable publications from abroad

Museum Life / 21 November 2025

Thanks to our friends from different corners of the world, the library of the National Museum of the History of Ukraine in the Second World War has been enriched with new publications.

Ivan Semtsiv from Australia, an active member of the local Ukrainian community, sent two books to the Museum.

“Українці Австралії. Ukraine Downunder” (“Ukrainians of Australia. Ukraine Downunder”) is an account of the Ukrainian diaspora on the Green Continent, which largely took shape after the Second World War, and of its diverse community and cultural life.

The second book, by Lesia Melnychuk – “Holodomor: Silenced Voices of the Starved Children” – presents 40 stories of Ukrainians who survived Stalin’s genocide in 1932–1933 and later resettled in Australia. It is symbolic that this book arrived at the Museum’s library on the eve of the Day of Remembrance of the Victims of the Holodomors and will be of great use to the museum staff in preparing scientific and educational projects.

The second edition of the graphic album by French cartoonist Régis Hector was personally handed to the Museum team by the author in London. It was in the capital of Great Britain that the artist’s cartoons, created in support of Ukraine in its fight against Russian aggression, were displayed at the museum exhibition “Indomitable Ukraine”.

“Ma guerre (illustrée) d’Ukraine” (“My (Illustrated) War of Ukraine”) is an artistic and civic manifesto by a great friend of our country and a long-time partner of the Museum.

From Germany we received by mail another book – a poetry collection by Berlin-based historian and writer Nico Lange titled “Ukraine 2022. Gedichte” (“Ukraine 2022. Poems”). The works included in it, dedicated to the current war, are a valuable reflection of the spirit of the historical era, democratic values, and Mr. Nico’s solidarity with Ukraine.

We sincerely thank our friends from other countries for enriching the museum library and, above all, for their ardent support of Ukraine and our institution!
