In December of this year, French volunteer Alex Delecaut joined the Museum’s work on his own initiative. He previously gained experience at the Museum of Aquitaine in Bordeaux, France. While working in the War Museum’s exhibition department, Alex sought to understand the various aspects of museum operations. In addition to familiarizing himself with the exhibition profile, Alex also took the opportunity to participate in our institution’s educational activities.
On the eve of the Christmas holidays, he met with students from Liko-School who came to the Museum for a tour. In the exhibition space “The War: Inverse Perspective,” Alex discussed the importance of volunteering with the students, shared his experience working at the Museum of Aquitaine, and spoke about his motivation for coming to Ukraine during an active war.
The conversation took place in English, allowing the children to put their speaking skills into practice. During the discussion, it emerged that some of the teenagers had already traveled to France and visited French museums, including the famous Louvre.
Alex Delecaut has now returned home, but his volunteer contribution has become an important chapter in the history of our Museum, especially during wartime. Anyone can continue the tradition of volunteering at our institution. You can learn more about volunteering opportunities at the Museum via the following link: https://warmuseum.kyiv.ua/cooperation
