On September 18, an interactive lecture for schoolchildren was held in the Exhibition Center of the War Museum. The event was dedicated to volunteering initiatives for supporting the Ukrainian Defenders and the modern technology used by the Defense Forces.
Around one hundred pupils from Kyiv schools and lyceums learned about the combat FPV drones and MAGURA maritime drones used by The Main Directorate of Intelligence (GUR) of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine. They learned about the history of equipment’s creation, its characteristics and its principles of use. Some even had the opportunity to try piloting miniature aircraft.
The moderator of the meeting, participant in the russian-Ukrainian war, volunteer, public figure and Hero of Ukraine Voldymyr Zhemchuhov, presented the volunteer project “Drones for the GUR” to the student. A manufacturer of FPV drones of the FPwin brand Oleksandr Berezhnyi also joined the event. He shared his personal motivation for creating this type of weapon and discussed how engineers, volunteers and military personnel join forces for a common goal.
Representative of the GUR of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine Yevhen Yerin emphasized the importance of Volunteer Movement for the Ukrainian reconnaissance officers: “For us, the volunteer movement isn’t just help, but an integral part of the work from financial support to the production of new technologies – becomes part of the success of operations and brings Ukrainian victory closer”. In conclusion, he presented Gratitude on behalf of the GUR to Olekandr Berezhnyi and Volodymyr Zhemchuhov.
The lecture inspired the schoolchildren and guests: new knowledge about new technology was combined with an example of the power of volunteering, which bring our Victory closer every day.
