On April 6, 2025, at 12:00, a master class on painting Easter eggs will be held in the Main Building of the War Museum as part of the cultural and educational charity campaign "Give an Easter egg to the Defender of Ukraine."
At the end of 2024, the Ukrainian tradition of making Easter eggs was recognized as a cultural heritage of humanity and included in the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage. After all, an Easter egg is not just an Easter attribute, it is a sacred thing, a kind of amulet.
Today, thousands of defenders are fighting for Ukraine’s victory and for the mighty Ukrainian nation to survive this war. Therefore, on the eve of the bright Easter holidays, we invite everyone who wants to learn how to decorate an Easter egg and thank the defenders for bringing our victory closer.
You will create Easter eggs with the craftswoman during the event using a pen, candle, and wax. And on Easter, the Museum staff will present your crafts to the military.
The master class will be held by Zoya Stashuk, an Honored Master of Folk Arts of Ukraine, a member of the National Union of Masters of Folk Art of Ukraine, and an Easter egg maker.
Moderator – Yaryna Zakalska, a researcher at the War Museum.
