Deputy Commander of the “Azov” Brigade Sviatoslav “Kalyna” Palamar personally presented the War Museum with the unit’s battle flag bearing unique signatures: those of Hero of Ukraine, Commander of “Azov”, Brigadier General Denys “Redis” Prokopenko, and Hero of Ukraine, Colonel Sviatoslav “Kalyna” Palamar himself.
Director General of the Museum Yurii Savchuk received the priceless artefacts and expressed his profound gratitude to the Defenders for defending Ukraine, protecting our lives and for many years of cooperation.
“This flag is a testament to indomitability, brotherhood and struggle, inscribed into the history of modern Ukraine through the living signatures of its Heroes. For the Museum, it is a priceless artefact of memory and responsibility — a reminder of those who defend our state”.
In addition, as documentary testimony concerning more than 600 “Azov” servicemen who remain in Russian captivity, the Museum received the investigative book “Olenivka. Crime. Memory. Broken System” and a statuette depicting hands entwined in barbed wire, seemingly reaching out for help.
“It is an honour for me to present the Museum with relics that are important to Azov. It means a great deal to us that the Museum will become another place and bearer of memory, and a reminder of the struggle and of our comrades in captivity — especially given our fruitful and long-standing cooperation”, Colonel Sviatoslav Palamar emphasised.
These artefacts will become part of the War Museum’s collection — as the voice of those who are fighting and as a reminder to each of us of the price of freedom and our duty to remember.
