A large-scale museum exhibition about the modern russian-Ukrainian war has opened in London (the United Kingdom). The exhibition, entitled “Indomitable Ukraine”, was created under the patronage of the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the United Kingdom, General Valerii Zaluzhnyi. The exhibition was organized by the War museum and the Bogdan Gubsky Foundation, with Yurii Savchuk, Director General of the Museum, serving as the project’s curator.
The project became a manifesto of a nation that has been resisting the russian aggressor for more than three and half years.
The official opening ceremony was attended by the families of fallen British volunteers who died fighting russian occupiers, military personnel, representatives of the British political establishment, diplomats, cultural figures from various countries, opinion leaders, and representatives of leading global media outlets. The British artist and reportage illustrator George Butler moderated event.
In his speech, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the United Kingdom, General Valerii Zaluzhnyi emphasized that this exhibition is a space of memory and strength, proof that a country that strives for freedom and that the aggressor want to destroy continues to live, fight, recover and inspire.
The Canadian High Commissioner to the United Kingdom Ralph Goodale thanked the creators of the exhibition for the opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of the reality that Ukraine has faced. The whole world sees the indomitable spirit of the Ukrainian people, and that Ukraine has formed the front line of the democratic world.
Former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom Boris Johnson called for increased international support for our state and providing it with all the necessary means of defense, which will hasten Ukraine’s inevitable victory in the current War for Independence.
A servicewoman of the 13th Khartiia Brigade Yuliia Paievska (“Taira”), who was captured by Russia, warned the world community in her speech against a frivolous attitude towards the russian aggressor, who de facto started the Third World War.
The basis of the exhibition were artifacts collected by the Museum in the process of documenting modern warfare. Each of the thematic sections of the exposition presents one of the factors of the invincibility of the Ukrainian people – military and civil resistance, support for Ukraine by Great Britain, culture as an element of resilience, – as well as the brutal crimes of the russian invaders against the civilians of Ukraine.
The exhibition was made possible thanks to the invaluable support of a wide range of partners from various spheres of public life.
