On World Theatre Day, we invite you to an event that unveils the history of theatrical life in Kyiv during World War II. You will discover how theater troupes continued to create despite the dangers, censorship, and fear brought on by the Nazi occupation. Join us to gain insight into their resilience and creativity during such a challenging time. You will also find answers to the questions: what role theaters played in the city’s cultural life, how they became a propaganda tool, and what challenges artists faced daily.
We’ll discuss not only stage performances but also the bravery of Ukrainian actors and actresses.
The speakers at the event will include the co-founders of the modern theatrical and literary association "SOLITE": Ivanna Yakovenko, Marichka Dzyna, and actress Olesia Aleksina. "SOLITE" is a project that brings the works of renowned Ukrainian writers to life through the efforts of passionate theater enthusiasts. In addition to a historical tour, the guests will share their experiences implementing theatrical initiatives.
