For more than three years now, the Museum has been actively cooperating with the Kyiv Institute of the National Guard of Ukraine. During this time, hundreds of National Guard cadets have visited our exhibitions, acquainting themselves with the difficult pages of Ukraine’s military history of the 20th century and today.
This November, six binary classes were held with the aim of supplementing Ukraine’s military education system with a museum component. In the exhibition spaces and on the grounds of the Memorial, accompanied by museum guides, the students study the course “History of Wars and Military Art.” The coordinator of the classes on behalf of the Museum was Svitlana Datsenko, Head of the Educational Outreach Department, and on behalf of the Institute – Professor Volodymyr Zelenyi.
Museum guides Alla Hrushetska, Ihor Buchma, Ruslan Bolobon, and Oleh Prelovskyi introduced the cadets to exhibitions on the Second World War and the current russian–Ukrainian war, as well as to displays of military equipment and weaponry. This year, particular interest was sparked by new exhibits – naval drones of the “Magura” and “Sea Baby families”. The cadets were able to explore the evolution of military technologies from the first half of the 20th century to the present day. To deepen their historical knowledge, a copy of the museum publication “Ukraine in the Second World War. The War Calendar” was presented; this year it received the approval mark of the Ukrainian Institute of Education Development under the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine: “Approved for Use in the Educational Process.”
We sincerely thank the command and staff of the Kyiv Institute of the National Guard of Ukraine for their long-standing fruitful cooperation, attention, and interest in the work of the Museum.
