Everyone writes their unique book of life. But 550 Ukrainian children will never finish this book because russian invaders took away their lives during the full-scale invasion.
On the Day of Remembrance of children who were killed as a result of the russian armed aggression, the “Unwritten Book of Life” exhibition was opened at the Museum with the participation of the First Lady of Ukraine, Olena Zelenska.
The exhibition, organized by Daria Gerasymchuk, Advisor–Presidential Commissioner for Children’s Rights and Child Rehabilitation, conveys this sense of cut-short lives in the form of books: burnt, shot, and mutilated.
The event was also attended by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Dmytro Kuleba, the UN Resident Coordinator in Ukraine, Humanitarian Coordinator Denise Brown, and other representatives of international organizations, heads and representatives of UN agencies in Ukraine, diplomats, and government officials.
All of them publicly reminded the world of the most terrible sacrifice that Ukraine has been paying in this war for ten years—its future. After all, our children started dying as a result of the first russian attacks in 2014. In total, almost 800 children’s lives have been cut short during this period of russian aggression in Ukraine…
Since 2022, the Museum has been reminding its visitors and community members of the children’s lives with the Multimedia martyrology project “Children…”— reminding visitors and casual passerby of the passing of time. As this article was being prepared, the Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine confirmed another child’s death.
By all means, Ukraine is begging for help. We ask: help us save our children!
Remember the innocent angels whose lives were taken by russia. Read their charred biographies at the “Unwritten Book of Life” exhibition. Look into their eyes in the space of the Upper Gate.
