Today, the War Museum’s Memorial Complex, with the Motherland Monument, has acquired an entirely different symbolic meaning from the one it had nearly half a century ago, when it was built.
At the Museum lecture, you will learn how the complex was created; what meanings the Soviet authorities embedded in it; what role it played after Ukraine regained independence; and how the process of reinterpreting its meaning has unfolded during russia’s full-scale invasion. You will also have the opportunity to trace the transformation of the complex’s grounds - viewing historical photographs and seeing how the site has changed over the decades.
Come and see a familiar place from a new perspective!
