Opening of the exhibition “ArtArmor Children UA”

The exhibition of the children paintings and armor plates turned into the artworks by the teen artists named “ArtArmor Children UA” was opened in the War Museum.

“ArtArmor Children UA” is the artistic contest by the charitable project “ArtArmor”. Its purpose is to involve children into support of Ukraine and the Armed Forces of Ukraine with the help of art. In the framework of this initiative, boys and girls had to create the artworks under the motto “Glory to heroes”. Over 150 persons from 17 regions of Ukraine took part in it. The jury selected 10 winners – three participants with the third places, three with second, three with first and grand prix.

Then the award nominees recreated their contest works on the armor plates that have been at the front and saved the lives of the Ukrainian defenders. The armor was turned into the art objects used at the Ukrainian and international exhibitions, charity auctions etc. The received costs are directed into the purchase of the new armor plates, which are immediately sent to the military.

At the official opening of the exhibition in the Lower Gate of the Museum, the founder of the charitable initiative “ArtArmor” Oleksandr Kovalchuk held a speech. He thanked all the participants of the contest and partners, who help to develop the project and find the new forms of achieving its noble goal – to save the lives of as many Ukrainian defenders as possible.

The honorary guest of the exhibition, Acting Minister of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine Rostyslav Karandieiev, said a word. He expressed his excitement of the incredible works of the teen artists and emphasized the tireless work of the Museum that was the partner of the “ArtArmor” project many times and created its own large-scale projects like the exhibition “Sign on the Shield”.

Also, Fedir Venislavskyi, the member of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Committee for National Security, Defense and Intelligence, the representative of the President in the Verkhovna Rada, held a speech. He thanked all the founders of the “ArtArmor” charitable project, as well as the organizers of the children contest. He also assured that all the armor plates purchased under the project will be distributed between the military structures that defend and liberate the territories of our country.

The Director General of the War Museum Yurii Savchuk told the guests about the location where the works are displayed. The Lower Gate is the monument of architecture that was closed for visitors for almost 100 years. After the large-scale invasion of the russian troops and closure of the main exposition of the Museum, the team had to search for the new opportunities for implementation of their and partners’ ideas. The first exhibition as a part of the “ArtArmor” initiative was also presented in the Lower Gate last year.

In the end of the official part, the organizers presented gifts to the winners of the contest. The special surprise was the original bracelets from the jewelry brand Love You. The artistic team of the brand created engraving with the winners’ paintings on the symbolic bracelets with the yellow and blue ribbons, which will be the symbols of personal feat for the teen talents.

The exhibition of the contest’s best works will be available until September 25 in the Lower Gate in the territory of the Museum.
