The exhibition showcases the defensive operation of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Kursk region of russia. It is based on materials from the museum expedition and demonstrates artifacts from the 18th to the 20th centuries, providing a historical portrait of the region.

War: Inverse Perspective

The exhibition attempts to cover the history of the Second World War and the russian-Ukrainian War through artistic reflections.

The project showcases works by 41 contemporary artists from various regions of Ukraine, including Kyiv, Odesa, Dnipro, Lutsk, and Ivano-Frankivsk, as well as 40 artists whose works are part of the Museum's collections. More than 150 exhibits cover an area of almost 2,000 square meters inside the pedestal of the Motherland Monument.

THE TIME CAPSULE

The War Museum has opened a section of its main exhibition that was previously closed since February 22, 2022.

Visitors can now access the first seven halls, which showcase the history of Ukraine during the Second World War from 1939 to 1944. These halls are located under the arch of the Motherland monument.

Exhibition “AIDAR. 10 YEARS”

The exhibition recreates the Battalion’s decades-long history, from a volunteer formation in the first weeks of russian aggression (2014) to a permanent unit of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Exhibition Center of the Museum. Exhibition “Sign on the Shield”

In the exhibition space, over 200 authentic artifacts are displayed, covering more than a millennial period of Ukraine’s history. The exposition reveals the most interesting facts from the Trident history, draws attention to the most important stages of its evolving into the state coat of arms. This is a peculiar response to the actual public questions related to the reproduction of the Trident on the shield. It highlights the connection of this process with renaming of the Motherland Monument and the Museum in general.

Exhibition of the Russian-Ukrainian war “Ukraine – Crucifixion”

For the first time in the world museum practice, the stationary exposition on the ongoing war was created in the real time. With the help of the authentic materials and photos, the horrible realities of the full-scale Russian aggression are highlighted.

The observation decks
Observation deck «Extreme» – 91,0 m

It provides physical activity, requires comfortable footwear and sportswear pants. For 18+ only. An instructor accompanies the climbing

Observation deck «Outlook» – 36,6 m

The climbing is accessible to visitors of all ages except for children of preschool age (up to 6 years). The observation deck is around the sculpture pedestal. On the eastern and the western sides there are military binoculars made in 1946 with 30.0x zoom which let you enjoy the beauty of Kyiv.

It works under good weather conditions without precipitation and strong wind gusts.

Temporary rent of individual binoculars for the time of stay at the observation deck – 50 UAH

Climbing to the observation decks are ordered at the ticket office of the museum and are carried out in turn.

Exhibition of military techniques and weapons

The exhibition of military techniques and weapons is deployed on the open site of the Memorial complex and includes 65 samples of military techniques and weapons of the 20th century.

The exhibition exhibits: armored vehicles, guns and jet units, naval weapons, armored personnel carriers and aviation techniques.

Our exclusive
Mi-24 Helicopter

Next to the building Exhibition center of the Museum there are examples of the heavy military techniques made in the USSR. There is the Mi-24 helicopter (NATO designation – «Hind») among them which was used to support infantry, e.g. during the war in Afghanistan.

You can visit Mi-24 the cockpit and feel yourself like a military pilot and the participant of the recorded air fight that sounds in the aircraft.

Li-2 transport aircraft

Constructed in 1942 in Tashkent, based on the PS-84 passenger plane (1939) which was a license-built version of the American Douglas DC-3 aircraft. During the Second World War it was used for different purposes: supplying armed forces, partisans, inhabitants of surrounded cities, transporting of the USSR government representatives. The German Instrument of Surrender was transported by such plane from Moscow to Berlin.

You can visit aircraft cockpit and feel yourself like a pilot, navigator or operator. In the passenger compartment you can watch documentary.

MiG-23 supersonic jet fighter aircraft

The MiG-23 multipurpose fighter aircraft (NATO designation – «Flogger» («Cikar») was designed for striking air targets day and night, in simple and difficult weather conditions as well as with active and passive obstacles. The first flight was performed on the 10th of April 1967. It was used almost in all Arab-Israeli Wars, in Ethiopia, Angola and Afghanistan.

You can visit aircraft cockpit and feel yourself like a pilot.

Free entrance

The right to free admission to the Museum (excluding the expositions of the Mi-24 helicopter and the aircraft Li-2 and MiG-23, observation platforms of the Motherland Monument (points +36.6 m and +91.0 m); guided tours) upon presentation of documents confirming belonging to the respective category of citizens, in accordance with the current legislation of Ukraine, is granted to: combat participants; individuals in the status of an injured participant of the Revolution of Dignity; participants in the ATO/JFO; military personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the National Guard of Ukraine; children of the fallen Defenders of Ukraine; cadets and students of military educational institutions of Ukraine; orphans; children without parental care; preschool children; persons with disabilities; museum workers in Ukraine and members of ICOM; internally displaced persons.
